2023/4 was a fantastic year for VGA and St Tydfils in terms of Fit and Fed, with new partnerships being developed with Hovis and Merthyr Housing. These partnerships, along funding from Moondance Foundation, Caerphilly CBC and Your Voice, Your Choice in Blaenau Gwent have meant that we have been able to deliver weekly sessions (in school holidays) across 4 venues, providing free food and physical activity to hundreds of children - linked to Street Games’ aim to tackle holiday hunger.
To enable us to deliver a wide range of activities, we have linked to Wales Golf, LTA Serves, Street Games and Dragons Rugby - amongst others! Huge thanks to the VGA and St Tydfils outreach teams for their ongoing hard work to deliver this programme! As a result of this work - along with several other outreach projects - VGA was the South Wales winner of the Street Games ‘Doorstep Sport Project of the Year’ award for 2023;
“VGA continuously strives to serve their community and provide a safe and inclusive environment for those who cannot access a traditional sports club setting, whether due to cost or lack of transport [Street Games].”
